1 pound has 16 ounces, and a letter hardly has 10 ounces. This means you are not sending a letter, but sending a package that weighs one pound or 16 ounces. So if your package weighs one pound, you will need to use USPS Priority Mail which starts at around $8.80. Moreover, USPS accepts packages weighing up to 70 pounds.

Priority mail and Flat rate both are good services for specific options. However, if you want to ship small and heavy packages then it is good to ship at a Flat Rate. On the other hand, if you want to ship large and lightweight items then it is good to mail through Priority Mail.
