New Nationwide Poll Uncovers America’s Current View of President Trump’s Performance

Recent nationwide surveys reveal a clear decline in public confidence toward President Donald Trump, even while he continues to describe his second term as smooth and successful.

One major poll conducted by CNN/SSRS interviewed 1,245 adults between October 27 and October 30. The results place Trump’s approval rating at 37 percent, down from 47 percent recorded in February. This figure stands among the lowest points recorded during his time in office. At the same time, 63 percent of Americans express disapproval of the way he handles his responsibilities as president.

Americans also express deep concern about the overall direction of the country. Roughly 68 percent of those surveyed believe the United States performs either “pretty badly” or “very badly” at the moment. Rising prices and ongoing financial difficulties drive much of this sentiment. When asked to name the most pressing challenge facing the nation, 47 percent point to inflation and the high cost of living. Another 26 percent highlight threats to American democracy as their primary worry. Immigration, an issue President Trump often emphasizes, ranks as the top concern for only 10 percent of respondents.

Many participants in these surveys feel that President Trump’s decisions contribute negatively to current conditions. Around 61 percent believe his policies damage the economy. An additional 56 percent say his approach weakens America’s standing on the global stage. Concerns about the use of presidential authority grow stronger as well: 61 percent of those polled state that Trump exceeds appropriate boundaries when exercising executive power.

These opinions appear to influence how people plan to vote in the upcoming midterm elections. Approximately 21 percent of respondents indicate they will cast ballots in support of President Trump and his agenda. In comparison, 41 percent declare their votes will serve as a direct opposition to him and his leadership.

President Trump responds firmly to these poll numbers. He dismisses the results as “Fake Polls” in posts on Truth Social and maintains that his base of supporters remains solid and enthusiastic. He continues to highlight achievements from his administration and promises further progress in the months ahead.

The path of public sentiment in the coming weeks and months will likely hinge on several key factors. Economic indicators, such as inflation trends and job growth, will play a central role. Major political events, legislative battles, and developments in ongoing investigations may also shift perceptions. The energy and turnout among different voter groups leading into the midterms will prove equally important.

Polls like these offer a snapshot of the national mood at a specific moment, yet feelings can change quickly in response to new events. Americans across the political spectrum watch closely as the country approaches a critical election season that will shape the balance of power in Congress and set the tone for the remainder of Trump’s term. Whatever the outcome, the surveys underscore a deeply divided electorate grappling with economic hardship, institutional trust, and competing visions for America’s future.

As always, citizens remain free to follow the issues that matter most to them, stay informed through reliable sources, and make their voices heard at the ballot box when the time comes.
